Ongoing church construction projects
Since many new churches were planted, there is a big need for church buildings. The caste system is still very much prevalent in India and therefore people do not want to come for fellowship in houses. With God’s grace we build many Christian churches in India to make everyone to feel welcome. There are currently four church construction projects going on.
i) Jungpana Darjeeling
Jungpana is a tea garden where many people work as laborer. There are almost 2000 people living there. One member of the family are given permanent job in tea garden. Each worker receive USD 1.80 for 8 hours work. There are lot of young people studying in high school and colleges. Unemployment is one of the major problem in this region. The church was started in 2010 when we sent out a missionary family of Pastor Pramesh Thapa. There was not a single Christian in that place. After few years, some people got converted. One young man was converted we brought him to Siliguri. He got enrolled in law college for five years program. He had ten semester in these five years course; each semester of six months. He termed it as BA LLB. Now he is in his ninth semester and he will graduate from law college by the month of July year 2017.
Together with him, we are inviting many young people who all are studying in High school final and colleges for career counselling. This is just a strategy but our main motive is to build relationship with them. We want to let them know that We love them and care for them. Also want to show that In Christ we have glorious Hope. All of these young people are Hindus and Buddhist. Few converts were forced by the villagers to leave their faith in Christ. That is why, we are targeting the young educated youth who can influence the whole village in powerful way in days to come. So our career counseling classes will be on November second week. Please pray for the anointing of the Holy Spirit and wisdom from above to deal with this situation.
Now we are building the church here, but due to the rising high price of cement, bricks, and rod they need to be carried by human beings, so the cost of construction is doubling. The project is only half done and we need your prayers and generous help.
You can help to this construction here.
ii) Kathiyar, Bihar
Bihar is one of largest populated province of India and the least evangelized state with less than 1% Christian presence. Also, Bihar is known as the graveyard of missionaries. Mission can be effective in Bihar when we could win, equip and raise missionaries from their own people groups.
Ray of Hope has three small churches in Bihar. We have brought one young man in Bible College who is in his final year bachelor of theology program. We need to raise many more such young people for the mission work there.
Right now we are building one church in Rameli Kathiyar Bihar. There was strong opposition in this place, but slowly God is opening the heart of people.
Hundreds of people from Santali, Oroan and Mussharis have come to Lord. They are mostly tribal but we are yet to touch high caste Biharis. The church construction project is going on and we need your prayer and generous help.
iii) Siliguri Main city church and administrative Building
Ray of Hope Ministry has been praying for the headquarter building to operate the ministries in India, Nepal and Bhutan for a long time. City Siliguri is situated in such strategic location since travelling to the Nepal border takes only one hour by car, three hours to the Bhutan border, one hour to the Bangladesh border, and six hours to the China border. It also connects north east India with mainland India. On top of that, Indo-Bangladesh border has been opened for both countries since 1st August 2015 which will give us easy access to start the mission work there. 20% of the world population lives in these four countries which is a big mission field.
Now we are constructing a three story multipurpose building where we will have our city church, administrative office and training centers for missionaries. It will be a big four floors building and the construction cost is heavy. We thank God for His provision and also prayers and generous support of the saints from different places for this project. The building size is 68.5 feet length and 32.5 breadth. Our church hall is of 68.5 feet by 16.5 feet. This is our ground floor. After this we will build another two more storeys and a big hall on top where we could accommodate at least 600 people.
This is multi-purpose building where we will have two halls, two dormatories, library, guest house and main office for India and Asia. Since we do not have enough fund to continue further construction, we are approaching bank for the loan. So kindly pray that we could receive the loan from the bank to complete our construction. We are now painting the hall and also other rooms. On top of that we are constructing the bathrooms and restrooms. Kindly pray for this project completion. To God be the glory.
iv) Purnea Bihar Ray of Hope Church Extension Project
Our church in Purnea is among the Oraon and santhali people groups. These are backward tribal groups in India. Recently leader of this church lost his only son of 16 years old in a road accident who actually attended our discipleship classes. Most of the people living are laborers classes who work in bricks making factories and others farms. Church have been playing a vital role to educate them and mobilizing all parents to send their children to schools. Many families have come to Christ. Among them one young man of 24 years old named Munna Oroan has complete his three years regular Bachelor of Theology program. Now we are praying for him to send for Master of Divinity program by 2017. Many young people are studying in tenth, eleventh or final year of high school. Our church there was build with mud. Since there are growth in the church, we are extending the church where we could fit in at least 150 people. Kindly pray for this church extension project too.
The fact is that 81% of the total population in Nepal are Hindus. There are more than 30 million people in Nepal. But we praise God that He is opening doors for the Gospel in all the region of Nepal. This nation is drafting a new constitution where some radical groups of Hindus are demanding Hinduism as only religion of the country which created many conflicts in Nepal.
By God's grace, we are able to plant twenty churches in Nepal where thousands have received Christ. Our churches are in the hills and also in the plains. Our mission has built many churches in Nepal, and there are also a three ongoing church construction projects. Among them one is going to complete. To complete all of these projects, we still need USD 14000. Kindly pray for this. Apart from this, two more places are in urgent need of buildings.
i) Kakarvitta, Jhapa, Nepal which lies in Nepal-India border
The Kakarvitta church is another project under construction which is also half completed. Ps Dik Bahadur Tamang donated a piece of land as gift for the church construction. He was Buddhist follower who got converted in the year 2008 when he received healing from the Lord. Although he faced strong opposition, slowly the place was saturated by prayers of this family and Lord touched the lives of the people.
Now there are more than 50 members in the church all converted from Buddhism. Since the members of the church started growing, the need of the worship places became urgent. That is why we started building the church in this area in 2014 and it is still incomplete. Kindly pray for this project too.
ii) Mahakali Western Nepal
God answered our prayers in wonderful way as we have been praying to God to opendoor in unreached parts of Nepal. One sister from Western most part of Nepal got married in a village close to one of the refugee camp where she got saved and joined the church. Later the family got the vision to move back to the western part and start a church. Even in this place opposition arose from the local villagers due to their conservative mentality. However most of the head of families are affected with Hiv/Aids as they come and work in capital city of India Delhi, which opened a door for us to reach out to them. But we praise God that in the midst of opposition, many people got healed and started attending the church.
Apart from their conservative behavior they also have a strong belief and practice of caste system. Usually the low caste people are not allowed to enter the house of rich and high caste people which created a huge need to construct a house of fellowship of our own so that all could be brought into one house and praise our Lord together in one spirit and body. The sister mentioned earlier has also donated a piece of land and now we have started the construction of the church in that place. It is just the beginning of the church construction and we appreciate your prayer and a generous help.
