Whom We Serve
People Groups and Areas Ray of Hope is targeting to work in India
1. Marwari—Marwaries are originally from Indian province called Rajasthan. Most of them are businessmen and they control the economy of the country. They are strongly community bounded and almost one hundred percent of them are Hindus. There are only a few countable Christians among them. In our church there is one brother converted from this people group but he had to give a new start to his business as he was completely thrown out from his family. Recently he got married with a Napali girl in a church and has started working among his own people group. Kindly pray for him as he has the burden to work among his own group in India.
2. Muslim: Muslims are the second largest people group in India, making up 14.88 % of the country’s population with about 180 million (2011 census). India has the second largest Muslim population next to
Indonesia. It is believed that by 2050, India will be the largest Muslim populated country in the world. It is one of the greatest challenges to reach them with the Gospel. We have a brother named Mohammad Rafik Sheikh who came to Christ in 2012 and now he is working among his own people group. He is facing a lot of opposition from his family. Please uphold him in your prayer.
3. Hindi belt (North, West and Central India): Almost 75% of the India’s population lives in this region and is one of the least evangelized areas in India. It is very challenging to carry the Gospel in this area. Missionaries have faced strong opposition and persecution in these areas. Ray of Hope is planing to raise a lot of missionaries for this area.
4. Also we would like to request you to please continue to pray for us as we have a deep burden to create a church planting movement among Santhalis, (a very backward tribal group in Jharkhand), Bengalese, Punjabis, Nepalese, and Biharis. The approximate statistics of these ethic groups all over the world are as follows Sathalis= 6.2 million, Bengalese= 230 million, Punjabis= 120 million, Nepalese= 4 million, and Biharis= 30 million out of the total population of the world but unfortunately very few among these ethnic groups are found Christians. Various missions have been working among them including us but our vision is to win all of them in Christ, and begin a discipleship training centre and further raise indigenous leaders who would plant churches and work among their own people groups and as cross-cultural missionaries to the other nations as well.
Bible Verse For You!
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!" (Isa.52:7)
